Stratford-based entrepreneurial business programme graduates students at Cambridge University

05/12/2009

The Louis Group Business Academy graduated its first class of over 70 students at Downing College, Cambridge on Saturday, 5 December 2009 where Dr Lawrence Abeln, head of executive education at Judge Business School, was the guest speaker.

The Business Academy was launched in February 2009 and it is wholly-sponsored by Louis Group, an international property and financial services company. The programme is run in association with Cambridge University Judge Business School and demand for places was high, with this year’s classes being more than 100 per cent over-subscribed.

The programme itself comprised twelve evening classes and was presented at the Louis Building in Timothy’s Bridge Road as well as two Saturday visits to Cambridge at the University’s Judge Business School. The modules covered in the programme included entrepreneurship, strategy and innovation, leadership, marketing, finance and people management, bringing together the best of the university’s academic strength and the ‘street savvy’ of Louis Group.

“We were delighted by the calibre of the students and the quality of the programme,” said Michael Ansell, Dean of the Business academy. “We see this as an important project through which we can invest in the community by increasing the skill levels of local entrepreneurs.”

The prize for the top student was shared by Mark Herbert and Amelia Mansell, who both received an all-inclusive business-focused trip to South Africa.
